The Beano

I wrote to D.C.Thomson in the late eighties, asking about the possibility of doing some work for them. There were a few of their comics in circulation at the time, and I read in the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook that The Beezer offered opportunities for new contributers. Of course I wanted to work for The Beano. I wrote, 'Everybody in the world wants to draw for The Beano, but I can wait.' I got a letter back from the Beano editor, Euan Kerr, on Beano headed notepaper, and you couldn't peel me off the ceiling for days. I got work! Over several years I drew for The Beano, The Dandy and, yes, The Beezer. Among other characters, I drew Billy Whizz, The Three Bears, Desperate Dan and Dennis the Menace, and I did quite a few Summer Special and Annual covers.

This is a fairly random selection.
