This was the third in a series of four books, and the first that I illustrated. The first two, Castle Diary and Pirate Diary, were brilliantly illustrated by Chris Riddell. Part of the brief was to not depart too far from those, easier said than done as Chris is a superb and very well known illustrator. These things are sent to try us. I also illustrated Roman Diary, the fourth in the series.
