Create a cartoon strip

I did this for Literacy Time Plus, a fun magazine for UK primary schools (ages 7-9) published by Scholastic. The instructions pretty much followed the process for producing Beano comic strips.

Oh, and that bit about spilling ink (frame 7 tip)? That really happened! I was babysitting for my sister, but I had a bit of work to finish so I thought I'd bring it with me. I was working in the living room on the coffee table, one of those with a tubular steel base and a smoked glass top - the top rested on three rubber caps on the knees of the tubular steel. My ink bottle was open, of course, and I dipped and scratched methodically, not noticing the creeping of the tabletop over the base as I leaned and worked. On I worked and on it crept until, inevitably, there came the point where it overshot the near rubber cap, and was supported only by the other two. Down went the edge I was leaning on, and catapulted the ink bottle over the lovely, light coloured new carpet they'd had about a week. And I know that it doesn't wash out, because I spent the rest of the evening trying. Hopeless! My sister and her husband were very nice about it. Bless them both!
